The Stay At Home Parents Paycheck ~You Can’t Afford Them

StayAtHomeParentPaycheck

Over the years I have read several articles regarding what a stay at home parent does all day. While doing some Google searching I ran across the FABULOUS Matt Walsh Blog and his article “You’re a stay-at-home-mom? What do you do all day?” It really floors me to think that with the centuries of stay at home parents, that people are still confused by the concept.

No, I do not sit on the couch watching soap operas and eating bon bons all day. I also do not wear cute little dresses and aprons and bake cute little Pinterest like desserts. Though, I have been known to whip up an awesome trifle from time to time. I actually do quite a bit of productive “jobs” in my 18 hour days.

Basically what I am trying to say is if a stay at home parent actually received a paycheck; YOU COULDN’T AFFORD THEM!

I decided to make a list of all the jobs I have been known to do and how much I would make in a year..I promise you the numbers are mind blowing.

Daycare Director ~ $51,290

Chauffeur ~ $25,020

Chef ~ $46,600

Maid ~ $19,390

Emergency Medical Technician ~ $38,400

Therapist ~ $86,000 *Yup that’s right, have you ever had a distraught prepubescent tween?*

Tutor ~ $19, 200

Interior Decorator ~ $40,000

Accountant ~ $41,701

Landscaper ~ $19,290

Handyman ~ $24,850

Referee ~ $75,000

Total ~ $435,451 a year

That breaks down to $8374.05 a week or $209.35 an hour. Told you..MIND BLOWING. I rest my case, stay at home parents might as well be The President :) So next time someone asks you what you do all day, you will have a multiple answers to choose from.

I am sure I left out a few jobs so be sure to leave a comment with a job you do as a stay at home parent.

It Works! Wraps Giveaway

The It Works! Wrap Giveaway

Hosted by Crazy Wrap Bleuer

wrap

The wraps have an all-natural, plant-based lotion on them that absorbs into the fatty tissue layer and jump-starts a toxin release process. By drinking a lot of water, the toxins are flushed out, and the fatty tissue cells shrink, thereby shrinking your fatty tissue layer itself. You will notice that your skin is tightened, toned and firmed! You leave the site specific wrap on for a minimum of 45 minutes. Most people see immediate results although the best and final result comes at 72 hours!! You can keep wrapping every 72 hours. Below you will see the results that I had after two wraps. banner

A box of four wraps retails for $99. However, very few people choose to pay retail for our products! You can get a box of four wraps (a treatment) for only $59 plus tax/shipping through what the company calls the “Loyal Customer” program – you agree to buy one product a month for three months (This would be Month 1), and after that you never have to buy anything again. However, if you did want to come back and purchase something in the future, you would always be at the Loyal Customer price. The company waives the $50 membership fee when you agree to the three months.

Basement Bathroom in Progress 3~26~14

Most of you know we bought a house that was a foreclosure. When the bank took it over they shut all the power off to the house. That is the WORST thing you can do to a home with a sump pump. Once the power was turned off the sump pump tuns into an open line for water. Water can come in but can’t be pumped out. When this happens you end up with a foot of water and tons of mold. Of course to a finished basement this is bad news. When this happens you end up with a basement that has to be completely gutted. Luckily for us the bank paid for a company to come in and remove all the drywall and clean up all mold until it passed an air quality test. This is a very expensive procedure so if you are looking into buying a house with mold, call around and get some quotes.

HERE IS OUR BASEMENT WHEN WE BOUGHT THE HOUSE:

basementcollage

So for weeks now we have been working strictly on the basement, in between my husband’s full time job, 4 children, and all the other household loveliness. But there is progress..I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I am just hoping it isn’t ending up with me 6 feet under LOL

Here are some updated photos of the basement bathroom..it may not look like much but to me it’s that much closer to having a completed basement lol

bathroomprogress32614

Sorry for the small person photo bombing my pictures lol as soon as it is nap time I am off to clean off the 4 years of dust, dirt, and gunk from who knows where off the floors and and fixtures..tonight the toilet leaves the box LOL

DIY Super Mario Brothers Tubes

IDIYsupermariobrotherstubes

I am sure every mother has had a child that is completely obsessed with a toy or character at some point in their childhood. Well my 4 year old is really into Super Mario Brothers and has been for nearly a year. A couple of weeks ago he received all the Super Mario action figures in the mail from the “Pu-P-S” man as he calls him. I watched him play with them on the ledge of my fireplace and felt he was missing something to go with them.

So I had this ingenious idea to make my own Super Mario Brother Tubes. How hard could that actually be, right?? It actually was really simple and I just so happened to have everything I needed laying around my house. I am somewhat of a hoarder when it comes to things I think could possibly be recycled into something else. I don’t need the show or anything so no interventions going on here. I decided to show you how I made them in case you have the same toy crazed child in your household.

Items needed:

Mailer tube ~ You can get these at UPS if you don’t have one laying around

Empty box

Hand Saw

Green paint

Glue

Masking Tape

Polyurethane ~ optional

IMG_0475 IMG_0476

First thing I did was cut the tube into 3 pieces with the saw. They do not have to be perfectly straight since you will be covering them with the box in a minute.

IMG_0477

Next, take your box and cut a strip approximately an inch and a half to 2 inches wide and make sure it is long enough to go around the tube all the way. Glue the piece of box and wrap it around the tube and use the masking tape to hold it tight.

IMG_0478 IMG_0480

Once the glue dries a bit than you will be ready to paint. I did approximately 3 or 4 thin coats but you have to let it dry fully before doing the next coat or the other coat will come off. After you get all the paint finished and dried you can use your polyurethane to do a coat just to help keep the paint on since it will be played with.

IMG_0482

IMG_0486

And now your kiddo can enjoy their new..inexpensive..”toy” cause EVERY child loves a box LOL
